Consultant Search
New York State service organizations are often asked to refer consultants to museums for specific
projects, ranging from architects to development professionals to conservators. We think you'll find this
database, which contains national leaders in the field, extremely helpful in your quest for professional
help. Consultant fees very greatly, but most charge within a range of $200-600/day plus expenses like travel
costs and meals. Some consultants will come to a site at no charge to meet with staff about the project. For
helpful tips on working with consultants, read the article, Working With
Consultants: When to Use Them and How to Get the Most Benefit from Them
Consultants who are listed with this site were carefully screened prior to acceptance, however, inclusion
on this site is not an endorsement of the quality of work of any individual or business. Before you sign a
contract, we highly encourage you to ask your colleagues about your choice of consultant, check his/her
listed references, and ask to see samples of his/her work.
Tips for using this database:
At the time of application, each consultant was asked for FIVE references, although most have a multitude
of past clients. Within each record you will find a section titled, "Statement of Work". The text
in this section was provided by each consultant to allow him/her to speak about his/her work, experience and
philosophy. We strongly recommend that you read the Statements of Work to be assured of a good match between
your institution and your consultant.
