- What is a staff to do when they feel their museum is beginning the slow crawl to irrelevancy to its community?  Well, you do some soul searching and rethink the museum!  When the Chemung County Historical Society realized that people weren't coming to lectures like they used to and that school visits had decreased significantly, the staff got creative.  Through non-traditional partnerships and offbeat programming, CCHS is trying to change the way that people experience local history.  In this workshop, participants will take part in a hands-on, irreverent romp through some of the best stories in Chemung County's history and hear how the staff has developed exhibits and programs to overcome specific challenges. There will also be ample time for a group conversation about how to make our museums centers for creativity and experimentation.

what it means to be a board member and why someone should volunteer to do so. Often organizations are undermining their own efforts in attracting people to board service. This session
