Today, the Museum Association of New York (MANY) announces that Executive Director Devin Lander has accepted the position of New York State Historian with the New York State Office of Cultural Education. The New York State Historian position is located in the New York State Museum and is tasked with helping to coordinate the historical field in the State.
"Devin has been a transformative leader for our organization," said MANY Board President Rob Cassetti. "Devin has skillfully led the Museum Association of New York during a remarkable period of growth and transformation. Under his leadership we have seen revitalized engagement with our members, stakeholders and the museum community across the state. Devin’s focus on advocacy for museums at the State and Federal level has been significant. On behalf of the Board, we thank him for his service."
“My passion has been, and continues to be, our shared culture and heritage" said Lander. "I am very thankful to the MANY Board and membership for giving me the opportunity to lead the organization during a period of growth. The museum field is essential to the economy and culture of the State. I look forward to continuing to support our vital museum and historical community in my new capacity as New York State Historian.”
MANY serves as the only statewide membership association representing hundreds of museums, historical societies, zoos, botanical gardens, and aquariums. MANY’s vision is to be the key resource for fostering healthy museums in New York. The MANY board will immediately initiate a search for a new Executive Director.
