Theater Curator
The Museum of the City of New York seeks a Theater Curator to manage the Museum’s vast theater collection of memorabilia, souvenir programs, Playbills, set designs, models, posters and drawings of theatrical luminaries that provide one of the most complete chronological overviews of the theater in New York City from the 18th century to the present. A primary focus is on collections access and care, including the writing of fundraising proposals to advance this work. The conceptualization, development and implementation of exhibitions is also an important goal.
The Museum seeks candidates with advanced degrees incorporating the history of theater or the performing arts or related fields and a minimum of four years experience in a curatorial or closely related capacity. Applicants must demonstrate a knowledge of and ability to research and write about the subject area as well as the ability to organize exhibitions. Collections management experience including the use of electronic database systems is required.
