Hadley DesMeules Museum Association Administrator |
Hadley joined MANY in January 2020 after working at the Williams College Museum of Art (WCMA) for over two years. While serving as Interim Manager of Student and Visitor Engagement at WCMA, Hadley oversaw programs that connected Williams students with the college museum and sought to support and engage students from all backgrounds who were interested in the arts, creativity, and museums. Hadley was responsible for managing the Williams Art Loan for Living Spaces program, an initiative that allowed students to borrow original artworks to hang in their dorm rooms; led Exploring the Arts, one of six orientation programs for first year students; oversaw the internship program; and co-directed the Agents for Creative Action, a group of students who learned about museum practice as creative process by developing programs and engaging with the museum’s collections. Before joining the WCMA staff, Hadley held internships at the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Portrait Gallery, the Worcester Art Museum, Cultural Survival, and the Society of Arts and Crafts in Boston. As an Anthropology major at Williams College, Hadley studied Mesoamerican archaeology. She served as a research assistant to Dr. Antonia Foias on the excavation of a Maya site near Motul de San José, Peten, Guatemala and co-authored a paper with Dr. Foias on three Puuc region sculptural columns in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Worcester Art Museum, and the Ethnological Museum in Berlin. |
