The New York State Education Department’s Office of Cultural Education is seeking candidates for a Visitor Services Assistant 1 position in the New York State Museum. The NYSM serves the lifelong educational needs of New Yorkers and visitors through its collections, exhibitions, scholarship, programs, media and publications in science, history, anthropology, and art.  The incumbent of this position will perform various duties within the NYSM such as, welcoming and educating visitors and groups, interpreting exhibits and presenting interpretive talks, programs, and activities for diverse audiences.

Full-time, permanent position: $34,148

Schedule: Wednesday - Sunday

Requirements: Candidates must have two years of experience in the visitor/customer service environment in a cultural institution.

Preferred qualification: Early childhood and/or elementary school program experience; or two years of experience developing and/or implementing educationally-based programming in a cultural institution.
