She made the leap to higher education fundraising at Cornell University before joining the science center field in 2004 at the Sciencenter in Ithaca, NY.
Lara is a distinguished leader in both the international science and children’s museum fields, with a proven track record of transforming and growing museums and programs. The Market was recognized internationally by ASTC with the Roy L. Shafer Leading Edge Award for Business Practice in 2019. Lara is currently leading the Mid-Hudson Children’s Museum through the feasibility study and planning of a major expansion on the Poughkeepsie Waterfront, which will include the creation of a new museum campus focusing on STEAM education
